UX Research | Usability Study | Heuristic Evaluation
Problem Statement
International students make up a small but significant portion of job seekers in the US. Creating profiles on job sites often involves extra challenges, such as searching for visa sponsorship or entering international education information correctly.
hypothesis
An informative and well presented profile is a central aspect to job searching using a platform such as Indeed. We hypothesised that many users struggle to create a profile that best represents their information and matches their goals, and this prevents them making best use of the job search.
We opted to look at the mobile app in this study.
Heuristic evaluation
I first performed an individual heuristic evaluation using Neilsen's 10 Heuristics to look at the profile creation and resume upload task. The team then collated our findings to produce an overall heuristic evaluation to present to the client.
usability study
We recruited 10 participants at varying levels of education, some with experience in the US and others international. Each participant was asked to create a profile by uploading and converting their resume, and also by using the Indeed Resume Builder. The full report can be accessed here.
